The main source of silver pollution in water bodies comes from wastewater discharged from industries such as the production of photosensitive materials, film processing, printing plate making, smelting, and metal and glass silver plating.Silver is a non-essential and non-beneficial element for the human body. After being consumed by humans, silver or silver salts will be deposited on human skin, eyes and mucous membranes, causing these parts to have a permanent and terrible blue-gray color change. Since silver and its salts have strong bactericidal properties, their trace amounts are enough to prevent the growth of bacteria, and their toxicity is weaker than mercury, they have always been regarded as a disinfectant for water. If a large amount of soluble silver salts are swallowed, due to the local astringent effect, there will be irritation and pain in the mouth, and even symptoms such as vomiting, severe stomach pain, and hemorrhagic gastritis, which will eventually lead to acute death. Silver concentrations ranging from 0.4-1mg/L can cause lesions in the kidneys, liver and spleen of mice. Principle In a weakly acidic medium and in the presence of a nonionic surfactant, silver ions in water react with o-phenanthroline and water-soluble eosin Y to form a purple-red complex. The color of the solution gradually changes from orange-yellow to purple-red as the concentration of silver ions increases.

 

How to use?
1.Fill a clean test tube with sample to the 15-mL mark.
2.Add the contents of one Silver () Reagent to the tube, cap the tube and shake to dissolve.
3.Add the contents of one Silver () Reagent to the tube, cap the tube and swril to dissolve.
4.Add the contents of one Silver () Reagent to the tube and swirl to dissolve, stand for 15 minutes.
5.Place the tube in 1 cm above the blank of standard card, compare the color from top to bottom, the standard color level has the
same color as observed from the tube shows the concentration of silver in the sample.

Notes:
1.Water sample pH:4.0-7.0, temperature: 20-30 oC.
2.The presence of Br-,I-,S2-can influence the test seriously.
3.In step 3, pleace don't shake, swirl the tube slowly to avoid forming foam.
